Bird's Eye Hard Maple (Acer saccharum) is a hardwood native to the eastern states of North America.
The wood: The figuration in the grain of Bird's Eye Maple results from dips in the growth rings causing distortion in the wood fibers, revealed in flat sawn wood.
Uses: Bird's Eye Maple is prized for its decorative properties, especially for furniture, decorative wood turning projects and musical instruments. It is also a magical looking floor (even though a bit expensive to use as flooring).
Hardness: Janka rating - 1,450.
