TREADS, RISERS & STAIR NOSE: We custom manufacture rectangular stair treads and risers to accompany specific flooring orders of our Australian species, including Spotted Gum, Sydney Blue Gum, Australian Cypress, Jarrah, and all our available flooring species. We can also mill treads with mitered "returns" at one or both ends, also made to order. Pricing for treads and risers varies depending on the wood species required and whether the stair parts are ordered with or without flooring.
  • TREADS, STANDARD RECTANGLE DIMENSIONS: Length  x 11-1/2" x 1-1/16".
  • RISERS, STANDARD RECTANGLE DIMENSIONS: Length x 7-1/4" x 3/4".
  • Lengths: 3' to 7'. Whole foot lengths only, no fractional lengths.
  • Minimum treads order with flooring: 3.
  • Minimum treads order without flooring: 10.
  • Availability depends on our lumber inventory of each species.

Stair Nose

As with stair treads, we can custom mill stair nose to accompany minimum flooring orders and minimum treads orders.
Pricing depends on the species and width of the nosing. Must be ordered at the same time as the flooring. No stand alone orders of nosing are accepted.

Specialized stair projects

Adapting rectangular stair parts
In many cases  your contractor can trim our rectangular treads to insert into the stairway, but
we do not custom mill unusual geometric shapes for complex stair projects or spiral stair cases.

Complex stair projects
If yours is a complex stair project, we recommend that you hire a skilled carpenter or stair making company and order material from us according to their precise specifications, in the desired Australian wood species. This is a three step process: (1) the homeowner hires a stair maker/ carpenter; (2) the stair maker/ carpenter assesses the project during a site visit, then does the design and quantity estimating, which generates a precise drawing (usually CAD) and precise list of product quantities to be ordered; (3) the homeowner orders according to the stair maker’s/ carpenter’s exact list. For some projects this will be our rectangular stair parts to be adapted on site by the carpenter/stair maker/ installer. For other projects this will be our rough lumber with which your carpenter or stair maker can build the stairway, either on site or at their own facility.

Lumber for pre-assembled stair modules made by stair making companies
We also supply Australian species rough lumber to stair makers who are building specialized stairways as pre-assembled modules at their own facility, for delivery to the homeowner's property for installation on-site.
